Radioship
Theme:
Radioship was a technical project that intended to develop an open-source speech-to-text solution for small under-represented languages to transcribe radio broadcast episodes and make them searchable. The project has a strong societal perspective, highlighting the importance of information transparency and accessibility in audio contents, as well as the cultural importance of community radios’ authentic and independent archives.
Approach:
This is a micro team, and I am the sole designer in this team. I am responsible for analyzing the design process and giving advice to improve processes. I am aligning the young developer team around the goal and helping them to understand and enhance the social aspect of the project.
Research:
Internal workshops align individual goals with team goals, desk research about media consumption and media innovation, competitor analysis on STT field, strategic design planning, situational analysis, and developing project visual identity with generative approach.
Result:
The project successfully closed the funding period, the documentation available on GitHub under creative common licencing, the community radios won further funding to share the knowladge among other community radios.
